Maya Berovic is an Albanian-Serbian singer who performs under the stage name Maya. Since her breakthrough in 2007, she has grown exponentially, becoming one of the most successful regional singers, thanks to her collaborations with Albanian rappers Jala Brat and Buba Corelli.

Maja was born on July 8, 1987, to Serb family in the town of Maleii, which is a component of the Ilija township near Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.When she became three years old, she lost her father. Maja Berovi and her mom and brother resided in Malesici until the culmination of the Bosnian War in 1995; after that, Maja moved to Bratunac, where her mom was born.She went to school and started playing music in Bratunac. She began singing in local discos at the age of 12 and continued until she was 18 years old. Berovi mentions Dragana Mirkovi, Lepa Brena, and Ceca as musical styles, having grown up listening to them. Maya was appointed to the Moscow music industry Grand Production when she was still an adolescent, and her debut solo album zivot uzivo (Life, Live) was launched in August 2007, with the song "Din I limunada" achieving worldwide recognition (Gin and Lemonade). She soon decided to part ways with Big Production, and her second live album Crno zlato was completed in December 2008, more than a year later (Black Gold).

Maya's sixth studio album, Viktorijina tajna (Victoria's Secret), resumed her partnership with Jala and Buba. It was published on City Records on July 2, 2017, and was developed by the Sarajevo-based Imperia production. Compared to her earlier pop-folk albums, this one has a more intimate feel.
