Die ab 269 Euro erhältlichen Modelle werden im 11,6 sowie 13,3 Zoll Format gebaut und richten sich vor allem an Einsteiger. Im Vergleich zu den Vorgängern sind die neuen Modelle etwas dünner, leichter und bieten eine längere Akkulaufzeit. Jetzt sind bis zu 10,5 Stunden mit einer Ladung möglich. Der günstige Preis wird vor allem durch die Prozessor-Bestückung und dem internen Speicher ermöglicht. Ein Intel Celeron und 32 GB eMMC-Speicher reichen hier aus, um flüssig unter Windows 10 zu arbeiten. Ein MicroSD-Slot sorgt zudem dafür, den Speicher um bis zu 128 GB zu erweitern.

Microsoft hat fast ohne jedes Aufheben zusätzlich zu seinen zwei neuen Flaggschiff-Smartphones auch das Lumia 550 vorgestellt. Das Gerät wird genau wie Lumia 950 und 950 XL ebenfalls im Dezember in Deutschland erhältlich sein und soll zum Preis von 139 Euro einen günstigen Einstieg in das dann taufrische Ökosystem von Windows 10 Mobile ermöglichen – inklusive LTE-Unterstützung.Rein nach den technischen Daten beurteilt, verkörpert das Lumia 550 im Grunde das Nachfolgemodell für gleich mehrere ältere Lumia-Smartphones. Das Lumia 540 und Lumia 640 drängen sich da beispielsweise auf. Das neue Gerät mit Windows 10 Mobile verfügt über ein 4,7 Zoll großes Display, das mit 1280 x 720 Pixel auflöst und durch Gorilla Glass 3 vor Kratzern und Stößen geschützt wird. Auf der Rückseite befindet sich eine 5-Megapixel-Hauptkamera mit Autofokus, f/2.4-Blende und LED-Blitzlicht. Die Frontkamera bietet einen 2-Megapixel-Sensor.

Im Lieferumfang des XPS befindet sich ein Folio Case, welches als Stand dienen kann. Dell bietet aber auch zwei separat erhältliche Keyboards an. Das Mobility Keyboard addiert 580 Gramm zu den 790 Gramm des Tablets und bietet eine hintergrundbeleuchtete Chiclet-Tastatur in voller Größe mit komfortablem 1,3 Millimeter Hub. Zusätzlich befindet sich unter der Tastatur ein Glas-Touchpad. Mit der zweiten, "Base" getauften Keyboard Variante, erhält man zusätzlich 60 Prozent mehr Akkukapazität, einen USB 3.0, USB Type C und HDMI Port. Das Tablet wird in den Tastaturdocks jeweils in einer Nut ausschließlich magnetisch gehalten. Es besitzt dadurch kein mechanisches Scharnier als Verschleißteil und lässt sich bequem mit einer Hand aus seiner Fassung lösen.
