Pipe insulation solutions provider INS Acoustics will be rolling out many new products for smart buildings and premium projects. They will also find applications in commercial and residential buildings as well.

The products include acoustic lagging for duct work to wrap noisy pipes and solutions for drainage pipes in terms of acoustic lagging to block noise making pipes.

The purpose of duct lagging is to increase sound absorption in the cavity and enhance thermal insulation. The CEO noted that acoustic lagging is the best option for efficient soundproofing. The structure of dense layers of materials including vinyl and other insulation materials can absorb noise as a barrier between the pipe and the wall cavity.

Acoustic lagging for drainage pipes will cover all kinds of pipes including copper, PVC, metals, and plastics. Pipe wrap sound insulation is unique because it reduces noise without any remodelling or replacement of the existing plumbing. According to the CEO, the company has a range of duct lagging solutions including foil-faced reinforced exterior lag tape that makes for easy installation.

To improve acoustical performance, mainly low frequencies foot barriers and quilted fiber glass absorbers are also offered. The CEO added solutions for acoustic lagging for drainage pipes to inhibit the transmission of sound from vibrating pipes.

Acoustic lagging is generally laminates of dense materials that add thick mass without consuming much space. This absorbs sound pretty well and prevents the transfer of sounds into support joists or wall cavities.

The CEO said the acoustic lagging type will be customized for soundproofing pipes. They are easy to apply and come in suitably sized rolls. The products will be rationally priced to ensure fair quality and user experience. He noted that sound proofing planning done during initial construction can save cost and time and prevent abrupt alterations to designs. Doing it later will require ripping the wall.

A quicker alternative to lagging is spray foam insulation that is sprayed into the wall cavity. But efficacy wise lagging is better. Mass-loaded vinyl is also in use as an alternative to acoustic lagging.

Before applying soundproofing solutions there will be a comprehensive audit of the piping system including water pressure to know whether any pressure regulator is needed.

The CEO noted that the company’s pipe insulation rolls have got a big response and the demand is growing thanks to noise reduction properties. Pipe wrap sound insulation and anti-vibration hangers are showing n high demand.

There are two types of noise from pipes--breakout noise and radiant noise. The former comes from flow of liquid while radiant noise happens from expansion of pipes due to heating. The CEO expressed confidence that the new products will boost its market share in the months to come.
