Dell setzt beim neuen XPS 13 voll auf drei USB-C-Ports, von denen zwei Thunderbolt 3 unterstützen. Sie eignen sich unter anderem zur Datenübertragung mit USB 3.1 (Gen2) per Displayport-Output (4K60) und als Ladeanschluss. Der dritte USB-Port unterstützt USB 3.0 und kann zum Anschluss eines externen Bildschirms und Aufladen des Notebooks verwendet werden. Der 52-Wattstunden-Akku soll eine Laufzeit von bis zu 20 Stunden bieten. Im Vorgänger steckte noch ein 60 Wattstunden-Akku.

Durch die leichte Reduzierung der Abmessungen scheint kein Platz mehr für einen normalen SD-Kartenleser gewesen zu sein, immerhin hat Dell ihn nicht komplett gestrichen, sondern ein Lesegerät für Micro-SD-Karten verbaut.
Hinsichtlich der weiteren Ausstattung setzt Dell auf Intels achte Core-i-Generation (Kaby Lake Refresh – Core i5 und Core i7), die von vier, acht oder 16 Gigabyte LPDDR3-Speicher unterstützt wird. Die SSD-Speicheroptionen umfassen 128 Gigabyte bis ein Terabyte. Weiter sind Bluetooth 4.1 und WLAN nach ac-Standard (2x2) und eine 3,5-Millimeter-Audiobuchse an Bord.

Alle Bewohner des 14-stöckigen Gebäudes mussten das Haus verlassen, Feuerwehr, Rettung und Polizei waren im Großeinsatz (die OÖN berichteten). Nun ist geklärt, was das Feuer in einer Wohnung im vierten Stock ausgelöst hat: Die Ursache war ein Defekt eines Handy-Ladegeräts.
