Hydraulic Fracturing is a Growing Option for Cleaner Fuel

Find out why this process is gaining ground across the country.

Snyder, TX, Dec 16, 2015 – Hydraulic fracturing is fast becoming an accepted practice for recovering oil and natural gas deposits across the country. As this practice grows in popularity there are some very sound reasons driving the expansion. One of those reasons is the fact this process is enabling greater access to cleaner-burning fuels deemed beneficial for the environment.

“While hydraulic fracturing is a viable way to tap into both natural gas and oil deposits hidden within the earth, the ability to tap into natural gas deposits is especially important for the environment,” explain the officials at Chemplex Solvay. “By providing natural gas on a more localized level in states across the country, hydraulic fracturing can help lessen the dependence on coal for energy while also lowering the need to run long pipelines to deliver this resource to communities.”

Hydraulic fracturing is a drilling practice that enables oil and gas companies to access deposits trapped in shale. The process involves drilling into these shale layers and using a combination of water, sand and chemicals to break apart the rock. This, in turn, releases the deposits so they can be pumped out of the ground for processing and energy use.

“While traditional oil and natural gas deposits are found in limited areas across the globe, hydraulic fracturing enables production in locations not normally associated with drilling,” Chemplex Solvay’s officials explain. “This alternative makes these natural resources more readily available while also helping boost local economies and enabling a lowered dependence on imported fuel. What’s more, localized fracturing using green technology can reduce the environmental impacts associated with fuel production and fuel importation.”
