Irvine, Calif. – When she was 52-years-old, Huntington Beach resident Dorothea Kalatschan was at the 12th mile of a half marathon and having doubts about the way she was taking care of her body. Although she had been active since the age of 25, Kalatschan was concerned that she was hurting herself by constantly training for long distance events: “Am I trying to prove to myself that I can run these 13 miles? There had to be a better way to feel better, look better, think better, and be more on task.” Kalatschan found her answer with the personal trainers at Innovative Results (IR) in Costa Mesa.

While she had consulted her fair share of trainers over the decades, Kalatschan says that she didn’t really feel the “personal” part of it: “When I look at the difference, [before] it was like the guy was reading out of a book instead of really working with me, the range of motion I had, aches and pains, all that kind of stuff. [Then] when I came to Innovative Results about six years ago, what had really hit me in the face was the attention to detail for me. And that didn’t mean that I had to have a one-on-one training.”

Now at 58-years-old, Kalatschan’s focus is more holistic. While she has achieved her goal of completing one unassisted pull-up, she knows that “there’s more to it than just exercise.” She says, “Certainly, [what] Innovative Results has pounded home, always, is a balance between food, sleep, rest, and working out.” Although she had been previously diagnosed with cancer in 2013, going to IR has allowed Kalatschan to feel mentally and physically prepared to fight her health issues.
