Mobilfunkwüste Laptop – Always Connected PCs sollen das ändern
Noch immer ist kaum ein Laptop heute mit einem Mobilfunk-Chip ausgestattet. Was bei Tablets und Smartphones eine Selbstverständlichkeit ist, ist bei Laptops die Ausnahme und selbst bei vielen 2-in-1-Geräten nur optional. Unterwegs ist man also zwingend auf WLAN angewiesen oder man muss über USB einen Surfstick anschließen und diesen nach jedem Aufwecken neu verbinden. Wenn es jetzt also Laptops gibt, die immer an und immer mit dem Internet verbunden sind, na dann: her damit!Man könnte kritisieren, dass in den ersten Always Connected PCs nur ein Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 arbeitet, also ein Smartphone-Prozessor. Asus Nova Go und HP Envy x2 sollen trotzdem um die 800 Euro kosten, wenn sie Anfang 2018 erscheinen. Billig ist das nicht.

Preiswerter sind aber selbst Smartphones mit dem Snapdragon 835 nicht. 600 bis 1000 Euro muss man für ein gutes Smartphone mit dem derzeit besten Qualcomm-Chip hinblättern. Muss ein Laptop da zwingend billiger sein?Lieber ein Smartphone-Prozessor als ein Intel irgendwas Die Einstiegsklasse bei Laptops ist derzeit ein Murks. Man hat die Wahl zwischen einer kaum überschaubaren Masse schwachbrüstiger Intel Atom-, Celeron- oder Pentium-Chips, die wie Relikte aus dem 20. Jahrhundert klingen. Selbst ein Core i3 ist kein Garant für ausreichende Leistung, es hängt vom genauen Typ ab.Wer sichere Geschwindigkeit will, der muss schon zu einem Core i5 greifen und wäre dann auch schnell 600 Euro für einen Laptop los. Ein Snapdragon 835 kann es mit der Einstiegsklasse der mobilen X86-Chips locker aufnehmen.

Das Asus Nova Go ist ein Convertible Laptop (Yoga-Prinzip) und bietet neben dem Achtkern-Prozessor Snapdragon 835 bis zu 8 GB Arbeitsspeicher und 256 GB Festspeicher. Das Display misst 13,3 Zoll. Der Akku soll bis zu 22 Stunden durchhalten. Das Gerät soll Anfang 2018 ab 799 Euro in Deutschland erhältlich sein. Sein Akku soll auch immerhin bis zu 20 Stunden durchhalten, der Achtkern Snapdragon 835 ist natürlich auch hier drin. Dieses enthält lediglich eine Neuerung, welche allerdings einen durchaus großen Effekt haben könnte.
