How to Migrate to the Cloud

Posted November 29, 2017 by zaidinbutt

Migrating to the cloud means you store desired documents, files and other data from on-site computers and storage to the cloud server that you have signed up with.

The cloud and migration sound foreign. I personally love the idea of having my photos, notes, projects and desired documents available to me anywhere I am without having to lug my computer around. Thanks to the cloud this is now possible for me and I love it. So what is the cloud and why migrate?

What is the Cloud

The cloud is a network of servers, they can vary in size from large to small. Each server in the network has a different function. Some servers will host software and applications while others will host photos or other variable data.

Your data isn’t just floating around in the sky, it is transferred through the Internet and stored in a central location, that location is the cloud. This makes it easier to access your information from anywhere without having to lug around computers, tablets or hard drives. Some cloud storages are free while others will charge a monthly fee depending on space needed.

Why Migrate to the Cloud

There are so many reasons that people personally and professionally migrate to the cloud for their data storage needs. I want to show you some of the most popular reasons to migrate to the cloud. Here are some of the most widely given reasons:

Flexibility

It is easy to increase the size of storage needed

Easy to decrease the size of storage needed

Great for growing businesses

Work from anywhere

Files stored in the cloud can be accessed anywhere there is an Internet connection.

Businesses can operate in smaller spaces by allowing employees to work from remote locations.

Document Control

Teamwork can flow easily and quickly with access to documents and not have to be in the same room at the same time.

These are all great reasons to migrate to the cloud to save time and money.

What is Migrating to the Cloud

Migrating to the cloud means you store desired documents, files and other data from on-site computers and storage to the cloud server that you have signed up with. Basically, it’s moving from one place to another. Generally, an IT person does this for you to make sure that all transfers go smoothly.

Migrating to the cloud is the best decision that a person can make personally or professionally. The ease of access and security is amazing. Being able to work from anywhere there is an intranet connection is the best perk yet. I highly recommend migrating to the cloud.
