A Program That Provides University Education to Refugees in Jordan Camps Was Announced in a Press Co

From the Pearl Rotana Hotel, Abu Dhabi, a Swiss NGO called UniRef presented its unprecedented mission of providing University Education for refugees with an invitation list of prominent local and international figures.

Abu Dhabi, UAE (18/5/2018) - Upon an invitation by the leaders of this joint project, Mrs. Yvelyne Wood, Mr. Bryan Wood, Mr. Mohammed Al Badie and Dr. Yaseen AlKamas, a presentation was held at the Pearl Rotana Hotel in Abu Dhabi to announce a non-profit project managed by the Swiss International Humanitarian Organization (UniRef) after uniting the efforts of the Jordan Red Crescent, Isra University and the Emirati business conglomerate Al Badie Group.

The conference was characterized by its thorough schedule and its invitee list of prominent local and global figures that included the President of the UAE Red Crescent as well as the Ambassador of Jordan in UAE, the President of Jordan Red Crescent and a wide range of ambassadors, activists and more.

The schedule involved an announcement that the academic courses will begin in 2019 with 250 beneficiaries in the first year. Another noteworthy stop included words from UniRef’s founders Mrs. Yvelyne and Mr. Bryan Wood in which they emphasized on the project’s value: “UniRef’s educational and development initiative will offer young refugees the opportunity to be less dependent on humanitarian aid and take ownership of their own future”, the founders said.

Their words also included an addressing of thanks to Dr. Yaseen AlKamas, the COO of Al Badie Group, for his highly-appreciated role in liaising between the Swiss organization and the group that played a major part in seeing this project come true, “…whose humanist values are still demonstrated today by his commitment to the UniRef mission”, said the founders referring to Dr. AlKamas, “He is involved wholeheartedly in providing young refugees and victims of war with an education of excellence”.

The conference and the project it announced made a positive impact on all those who consider making university degrees available for refugees and enabling them to make vocational training a priority.

Dr. Yaseen AlKamas is the COO of Al-Badie Group of companies, he got his bachelor’s in Aeronautics Engineering from the University of Manchester, He graduating with honor in 1987. In 2002, he got a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering. Today, he carries the CFA Charterholder title.
