• A father was in for quite a shock when he discovered his face plastered onto a massive billboard in his own neighborhood for an advertisement about erectile dysfunction.
• The billboard is the work of TikTok prankster “JakesFunny” who has amassed 1.2 million followers on the platform in only 3 months.
• The billboard was crowdfunded through the help of thousands of small donations from Jake’s fans who have been eagerly awaiting the reveal.
North Hollywood, California -- Imagine you’re driving home from work one night after a long day at the office, and as you turn the corner onto your street, something catches your eye above you. You slam on the brakes and get out of the car to get a better look, because right there in the sky, one of Los Angeles’s largest billboards has your face plastered on it… for an advertisement about erectile dysfunction.
Well, that’s exactly what happened to this unsuspecting father who was the subject of such a prank at the hands of his mischievous son, Jake Gould (23). Jake runs a TikTok channel by the name JakesFunny, which has amassed 1.2 million followers in just 3 months on the platform. His content? Pranking his father, of course.
Some of Jake’s most popular pranks include sneaking an alpaca into their apartment living room, hiring a mariachi band in the middle of the night, and scaring his dad by jumping out of their refrigerator in crazy costumes. You can check out one here.
But don’t worry, it’s a two-way street. “My father has done his fair share of pranks over the years,” Jake mentions, “in fact, that’s how I learned my craft.”
The idea for the billboard spawned from a previous prank where Jake delivers a hilarious commercial-style video about his father’s experience with ED. That video has now been viewed over 10 million times on his TikTok, prompting Jake to take it a step further with a “real” advertisement.”
Jake appealed to his fans to help crowdfund the project through a number of small donations, and they were able to raise enough to rent the billboard for a full month. Perhaps the only thing worse for his dad than being the poster boy for ED may be the fact that thousands of people paid to make it happen.
At the end of the day, Jake and his dad explain that it’s all in good fun, and that they get along very well together. Although right now, the father is trying to cook up a revenge prank to balance out the scales.
