In the majority of cases the series manages to get the gameplay right and lasts for a long period of time. But, one aspect which isn't often talked about enough is the way it's presented. This is without doubt the best game in any sport gaming franchise, and again, this one nails nearly every aspect of it, down to the soundtrack.

The commentary continues to be extremely smooth, which is difficult to pull off given the speed at which basketball plays. However, it still appears more natural and more like a genuine broadcast than those games featuring slow sports like baseball or football. The graphics are stunning as are the pregame programs and other things. The only issue is the reaction of the crowd that isn't always on level.

Although the graphics are incredibly impressive users have noticed some of the animations do appear to be clunky. While the developers have managed to somewhat fix things like the old bump steals, others are worse this time around.

It could happen while trying to make a break fast or perhaps when you're attempting to throw smooth passes, or it might be the moment you crash into your opponent, but that things aren't as smooth as they should however, which could keep this game from being considered as the greatest Basketball game of all time.

One area in which the game was in need of improvement was on the defensive side of the ball. It's what people are excited for, so it's only natural that games have been dominated by that previously. Now, it's evident that there has been work completed to make things better for those who prefer playing defense.

The most noticeable change is that shot-blocking is now an enormous distinction-maker. It's possible to believe that it's overpowered due to the fact that powerful players can stop almost every shot. You can also contest shots better than before and don't have to worry about the speed boost issue from the previous version.
