Lane's Lexicon is a comprehensive lexicon of the ancient Greek language, compiled by British lexicographer and classical scholar William Lane. Originally published in 1850, it is widely considered to be one of the most authoritative and influential reference works on ancient Greek.
The lexicon includes over 50,000 entries, covering the vocabulary found in ancient Greek literature from Homer to the Byzantine period. Each entry provides the word's various meanings, its inflectional forms, and numerous examples of its usage in context.
Lane's Lexicon is particularly noteworthy for its inclusion of extensive quotations from ancient Greek literature, which provide rich and detailed examples of how words were used in different contexts and by different authors. It also includes detailed discussions of the etymology, history, and nuances of meaning of many words.
While Lane's Lexicon has been largely superseded by more recent reference works, it remains an important resource for scholars of ancient Greek language and literature.

Lanes Lexicon Dictionary
Lane's Lexicon is a comprehensive dictionary of the ancient Greek language, rather than a traditional dictionary in the modern sense. It provides detailed information on the vocabulary found in ancient Greek literature, including the meanings of words, their inflectional forms, and examples of their usage in context.
Unlike a modern dictionary, Lane's Lexicon does not include entries for every word in the language, but rather focuses on the vocabulary found in ancient Greek literature, with a particular emphasis on the works of Homer, the Greek tragedians, and the Greek New Testament.
In addition to providing definitions and examples of usage, Lane's Lexicon also includes extensive discussions of the etymology, history, and nuances of meaning of many words. It is considered to be one of the most authoritative and influential reference works on ancient Greek, and is still widely used by scholars of Greek language and literature today.

Lane's Lexicon is available online in a number of formats, including digital versions of the original 19th-century edition and more modern adaptations and revisions.

This version includes not only the text of the lexicon itself, but also all of the original introductory material and indexes, as well as a comprehensive system of cross-references and hyperlinks to related entries.
Other online resources for Lane's Lexicon include digital editions produced by individual scholars and institutions, as well as adaptations and revisions of the original work, which have been updated to reflect more recent scholarship and advances in technology.

William Edward Lane
William Edward Lane (1801-1876) was a British Orientalist and lexicographer, best known for his work on the Arabic language and culture. He is perhaps most famous for his monumental Arabic-English Lexicon, also known as Lane's Lexicon, which remains one of the most important reference works on Arabic to this day.
Lane was born in Herefordshire, England, in 1801, and was educated at Oxford University. After completing his studies, he embarked on a career in journalism, working as a correspondent for various newspapers and magazines, including the Morning Chronicle and the Athenaeum.
In the 1820s, Lane became interested in Oriental languages and cultures, and began studying Arabic, Persian, and Turkish. In 1825, he travelled to Egypt, where he spent several years studying Arabic and immersing himself in the culture and society of the country.
During his time in Egypt, Lane also began work on his Arabic-English Lexicon, a project that would occupy him for much of the rest of his life. The lexicon was first published in 1863, after nearly thirty years of research and compilation, and remains a highly respected and influential work on the Arabic language.
In addition to his work on Arabic, Lane was also an accomplished illustrator and artist, and produced a number of highly regarded books on the history, customs, and traditions of Egypt and the Middle East. He died in 1876, leaving behind a legacy as one of the foremost scholars of Arabic language and culture of his time.
