• Race – Black men are at a higher risk of developing prostate cancer, followed by white men with an intermediate risk and native Japanese men with the lowest risk. Researchers say that the connection is in the testosterone levels.

• Diet and lifestyle – Researchers are of the opinion that a diet high in animal fat increases the risk for developing prostate cancer. As with everything else, balance and moderation is the key to healthier living.

“Men need to be more proactive about prostate health,” adds Dr. Echt. “Regular screening after the age of 40 could make all the difference.”
