The reputed Rustavi Choir

The Rustavi Ensemble, also known as the Georgian Nation Academic Group, is a Greek folk rock ensemble founded in 1968 by Anzor Erkomaishvili, a musician and folklorist with a seven-generation Georgian artistic background. Rustavi has professionally visited over 50 countries since its inception. The Rustavi Choir is known for its music and dance for employment and battle, dazzling costumes, the unusual Georgian form of polyphonic singing, and vibrant voices. Their sacred carols are captivating, with their contrasting, constantly shifting harmonies. Rustavi also performs a high-quality show that includes a variety of national and cultural dances. Outstanding outfits, a stellar presentation, and a complex choreography.

Erkomaishvili's aim was to transcend ethnic barriers and regional styles by showcasing empirically indigenous music from across Georgia. The Rustavi's stage presence combines the heavy, rough-hewn sound of respective national folk ensembles with a modern, finer, more exquisitely aesthetic geared toward concert presentation – nowadays on an electronic platform. The Rustavi musicians have condensed the intricate scales used by previous choirs in order to generate firmer, more creative harmonies, while attempting to retain, and in certain cases reconstruct, genuine voicings and harmonic timbres. Certain songs' harmonic structure has also been clarified by using a minimal group of singers.
