Oculoplastic surgeon receives positive reports for a range of cosmetic and related surgeries

Well-known London consultant oculoplastic surgeon Miss Pari Shams has brought her services to patients from all over London, the rest of the UK and also from overseas destinations for years during which time she has discerned herself as one of the top specialists in her field. In addition to offering patients the wide range of oculoplastic services that she does, dr Shams is also a popular speaker at conventions, and as a teacher, her services are sought after.

The areas around the eye, for example, the eyelids and eye sockets, are those that she attends to most often. In addition to the cosmetic surgeries she performs to improve patients’ appearance, she also offers a range of functional eye surgeries, depending on what the patient needs.

As an eye surgeon enjoying a high profile, dr Shams is often approached for interviews, during one of which she was quoted, “My services are available to cover a wide range of the oculoplastic surgeries that patients can book. This includes the upper blepharoplasty, which is, essentially, done for practical reasons, but also to add to a more attractive appearance.”

Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery can be performed on either the upper lid, the lower lid, or both. These are done at one of her practices, and depending on whether you have one procedure done, or more, can last from 45 minutes upwards of two to three hours. Patients leave the same day, with instructions on how to care for the eyelid, and with a follow-up meeting with the surgeon booked at the same time.

The upper blepharoplasty is a straightforward procedure which is performed to prevent the drooping of skin so that the patient’s vision is not interfered with. This is referred to, typically, as functional blepharoplasty and may well be covered by your medical insurance if it interferes with your eye functions.

For the upper eyelid, an incision is made along the lid’s natural crease, after the patient is given local anesthesia and other forms of sedation. The surgeon may remove or restructure the fatty deposits in the lid to ensure it can be tightened again and normal vision restored. Recuperation periods vary, but most patients can resume their normal routines within a week to ten days.

Dr Shams runs a tight schedule; however, she always tries her best to assist all patients as quickly as possible.
