Pull-In-Place Pipelining Effective For Bottling Facilities in Honolulu

A Honolulu bottling facility enjoyed effective repairs with pull-in-place pipelining with excellent results

NuFlow were recently called to a soft drink bottling facility in Honolulu that had signs of a failing plumbing system. NuFlow successfully rehabilitated one hundred and eight feet of cast iron sanitation pipes using their patented NuDrain using the pull-in-place method of installation without disruption to the bottling processes.

The bottling facility called in NuFlow after experiencing numerous leaks and blocks that were caused by deteriorating pipes. This was impacting employees and resulted in one of the bathrooms being unusable. The piping network was extensive, spanning under concrete across the entire production floor. This made replacement impossible and would have resulted in serious disruption to their production. The repair needed to be safe for the food and beverage industry. Rehabilitation of the pipes using NuFlows pull-in-place CIPP lining was the best option.

As with every pull-in-place pipelining project completed by NuFlow Certified Contractors, a thorough camera inspection was carried out and the pipe was cleaned and cleared. After years of use, the pipes were badly corded, resulting in a void in the bottom half of the pipe. Luckily some areas were not as bad, but were still showing signs of deterioration that could result in future problems. The bottling facility chose to use pipelining throughout the system, repairing the existing damage, while preventing the risk of future damage.

The experienced NuFlow Certified Contractors used the NuDrain CIPP system, using the pull-in-place pipelining method. This involves the use of a durable felt liner with a two-part 100% solid epoxy. The liner is covered in epoxy and pulled into place using an inflatable bladder system, expanding the liner into the walls of the existing pipe to create a strong, durable and long-lasting “pipe within a pipe.”

Tom Bowman, the President at NuFlow, said “Our team worked closely with the customer to ensure that there were no disruptions to the bottling production while they complete the project. They used existing cleanouts along with two predetermined trenches that did not impact the sanitation or machinery needs of the staff.”
