In conclusion, I really like the RPG aspect of NBA 2K22's storyline. It's kind of like Grand Theft Auto meets NBA 2k meets The Sims, which sounds like (and is) lots. It's also fun to move through the story at my own speed.
What I'm not enjoying but is all of the extracurriculars which come with it. It's more about basketball , and less on the NBA career than ever before. Fashion and music should be your side hustles however, they're the main subject of the game every time it's mentioned.
The storyline of this year's edition is one of the more boring stories in the series' history, and I think the reason is it's all about you. 2K21 had a very fun G League path where you met your teammates as you developed your character and made preparations in advance for the draft. In 2K22 there's no actual emotional connection to the draft team you've been assigned to.
All that seems to be relevant is building your personal brand. If you're the type of person who's truly thrilled at the number of followers you've accumulated each week 2K22's MyCareer might be ideal for you however for me it was an dull introduction to the annual VC and badge grinding.
I enjoy the buildout of the city and think the new NPC's add an abundance of energy to what was otherwise, a boring space. I'd love to be able to quickly travel to destinations other than my apartment sometimes and it's starting to feel like a pretty vibrant space. And that's something I don't believe I've ever said before.
