So I have not actually played RuneScape before. Is your version bad? It seems like I only ever hear talk about people playing old school RuneScape. I kinda like the idea of smithing gear to sell to people and collecting ore. Is that viable, or is RuneScape game at some point where that something? Its a thing in OSRS. It is possible to do it but it will not be"rewarding". You'd be making cannonballs for gain. RS3 may be better if you want to create some form of gain although I figure if you like to role play creating weapons and armor then by all means do so.

RS3 reworked its smithing and smithing if thats what you really want attempt RS3 best in slot armor actually makes the ending game. The new variant (rather: first version that has been upgraded) isn't'bad', it is actually quite fun. The two games just have quite different design philosophies. OSRS is slower paced in each aspect: slower to degree, slower to traveling, slower to kill monsters. While it still has stuff OSRS is much more about the journey. RS3 is, nowadays, more about getting one to endgame like a MMO. Some people enjoy this, some don't. But do not get me wrong, it's still going to take you some time to reach endgame in RS3, longer than any modern MMO, just nowhere near as long as OSRS.

RS3 and OSRS also differ on battle systems, OSRS becoming more like very sophisticated cookie clicker and RS3 being more like wow. However the combat systems are both essentially the same - you can still turn off your brain, watch chinese cartoons and acquiring loot. The reason people don't talk about RS3 is because of the large bad boogeyman - micro-transactions. You can basically buy max degree in case you're prepared to fall over 10 grand. You can purchase gold in both matches, such as wow tokens. It's feasible, a profit will be made by you, but not ideal. It is actually workable in RS3 due to the current mining and smithing rework.

RS3, the"primary" game is merely so-so. OSRS is the game, and it deserves it also since it's more fun imo. Smithing the gear isn't a way to make money unless you're in free to play and gathering ore with, then smithing rune 2h swords is a good money maker. It's often seen as not feasible as the grind to get the required levels is long and there are choices to make money. Gathering ore is a method on its own. Additionally you are able to smith cannonballs however, xp/hr and the gp/hr isn't great. But it's afk, so some people like it.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think he is asking if it's profitable or not. I believe he is especially saying if there's a market for actually gathering ore, subsequently especially selling equipment like how it used to work, to individuals outside exchange that is grand. But because Grand Exchange is currently a thing that's no longer an option. As RS3, it's really good for. Better than OSRS.
