Old Vanilla WOW Version to Be Integrated into the New

Classic was about five years ago. At the same time, no one is crying for the Classic private server

After the ominous meeting between Nostalrius and Blizzard in 2016, it was suspected that the only reason for the long silence of the meeting was the signing of a non-disclosure agreement (NDA). However, as shown in a video recently released by Nostalrius founder Nano Nost, Blizzard has never contacted at all.

Classic was about five years ago. At the same time, no one is crying for the Classic private server, because WoW players have been able to play WoW Classic on the official server for nearly two years, and even Burning Crusade Classic soon. Nevertheless, we should still owe it to the Nostalrius team, which was the largest classic private server project at the time. Because only after paying attention to the project and passing the code to the next largest Classic project, Elysium, the discussion about WoW Classic Server really began.

After Blizzard took legal action against the private server for the first time and shut down the private server, the developers of World of Warcraft were of course jealous. But California game companies have shown kindness. Although J. Allen Brack categorically rejected the official Classic server at the legendary BlizzCon, but he said "You think it is okay, but you don't want it", the creator of Nostalrius was invited to Irvine to discuss the Classic server with them.

At the time, this was very exciting news, because it was clear that Blizzard was actually interested in reviving Classic. However, developers were unable to do so at the time, because obviously not all the necessary data from 10 years ago were available for technical implementation. Five nostalgic boys should help with the implementation.

However, after the meeting, neither side could say much about it. Although Nostalrius published a very detailed report containing their experience and some key topics, it did not come up with a report that can be counted. A few months have passed, the dedicated server has gone offline, and Classic has quieted down again. At that time, we were convinced that the creator of Nostalrius was under the NDA (Non-disclosure Agreement), so we were not allowed to disclose any information about the meeting. As shown in a video recently posted by Nostalrius member Nano Nost, Blizzard has no news after the meeting.

Secretly hope that Nostalrius can somehow help developers use their code to start and run Classic servers, provide them with implementation skills or understand the difficulties and challenges. However, according to Nano Nost, Blizzard just has no connection-the whole thing is just a huge PR stunt to calm the community.

Instead, special investigators were sent to the necks of the five Nostalrius founders. They also like to knock on the door at 10:00 in the evening to further exert legal pressure on the team.

About three years after the conference, the official Classic server appeared. As we all know, Omar Gonzalez, the server and game engineer at the time, almost single-handedly transformed the old Classic code and enabled the old vanilla version to be integrated into the new server structure without errors.
