Lockdown book to raise CAP

The COVID-19 Lockdown has brought with it many restrictions and with that many new challenges. One of the biggest challenges being faced at the current time is by charities who normally rely on social and person to person interaction for the purposes of fundraising. Some of the larger, better known charities have been able to shift this fundraising online, but it’s the smaller lesser known organisations who are bearing the brunt.

The Milton Keynes based Author of the Izzy Explores Children’s book series; Martin Wallace had decided to do his bit to help, by releasing a special Izzy Explores book based in lockdown and donating all profits for sales over the first 3 months from release to Falkirk based charity Central Advocacy Partners.

When asked why he was doing this, Martin replied, ‘It’s very easy for us to become very internal at these times, but then we have also seen a great wealth of generosity from the British public. I wanted to make sure that I did my bit to help a community-based organisation who might otherwise struggle to raise funds during this challenging time.’

Where the authors character Izzy traditionally spends her time exploring the jungle meeting all sorts of new animal friends, in this special Lockdown edition she is exploring the things that she can do to keep herself entertained in the house, she is joined by her trusty talking Monkey Mike and there is even a subtle nod to the world PE teacher Joe Wicks.

Central Advocacy Partners are a small member led charity based in Falkirk, working all over Forth Valley. They have been around since 1996 working with adults with Learning Disabilities/Difficulties and Autism. They provide advocacy and a voice for the most vulnerable people in our community, we help them understand their rights, reports about them and options. As with so many charities they do not receive any local authority or government funding and so are completely independent.
