A team of researchers from Japan have come up with a clean way for turning industrial polymers into adhesives. This process involves the development of natural plasma treatments, which allow plastic PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) and vulcanized rubber to adhere to one another, or with other materials. The team developed a method that allows PTFE to adhere to un-vulcanized rubber by spraying the rubber with a plasma of helium at the temperature of 200 degrees.
