As per the estimates of All4Pack Paris, the sales of food packaging materials to various food and beverage companies generated $273.9 billion revenue in 2017 and this number is predicted to rise to $356.7 billion in 2023.
 
Packaging adhesives are heavily used in packaging applications in the food and beverage industry. Furthermore, the increasing consumer awareness regarding food hygiene and health has massively increased the requirement of maintaining the shelf lifespan or freshness of packaged foods. “As per the estimates of All4Pack Paris, the sales of food packaging materials to various food and beverage companies generated $273.9 billion revenue in 2017 and this number is predicted to rise to $356.7 billion in 2023”. Furthermore, the increasing travel activities and adoption of busier lifestyles have pushed the demand for packaged food items across the world.



Besides the above-mentioned factors, the increasing popularity of e-commerce and online home deliveries is also causing a sharp rise in the requirement of packaging adhesives all over the world. Speaking of the type of resins, rubber, acrylic, polyamide (PA), polyvinyl acetate (PVA), ethyl vinyl acetate (EVA), and polyurethane (PU) are the most common types of resins used in packaging adhesives across the world. Out of these, “the usage of the acrylic resin was observed to be the highest in the past”. Additionally, the demand for this acrylic is predicted to be the highest in the coming years. This is attributed to the various advantages offered by the acrylic adhesives over the other types of adhesives such as high peel and shear strength, tensile strength, and impact and shock resistance.
