Understanding The Importance Of Centering Prayer

Centering prayer helps you to respect and embrace silence while also teaching you to be kind with yourself. You will start realizing that god sits inside you and you will become calm and still.

Contemplative prayer is what Centering Prayer is. It is indeed a peaceful pray that's also known as the consent prayer. It's a promise to surrender our heart and mind (our entire being) to God in ways that go beyond speech, feelings, and thoughts. Because God lives within each of us, we are calm and silent before Him in Centering Prayer, agreeing to His presence as well as action from inside.

It does not necessitate any genuine activity on our side, unlike the other kinds of prayer. In fact, it's the polar opposite. We let go of ideas, emotions, and sentiments in Centering Prayer and just rest in God's presence. The practice of Centering Prayer has the potential to transform your life.

Basic process of centering prayer

A divine word is selected as a representation of your willingness to agree to God's presence and work inside you when Centering Prayer starts. The word isn't sacrosanct because it has a special connotation. Instead, it is holy due to the obvious meaning we assign to it as a pledge of assent to God's presence inside us.

After that, sit comfortably with your back upright and quietly say the holy word. For Centering Prayer, a common ‘sit' duration is 20 minutes.

It's natural to have thoughts flow during prayer. Body perceptions, feelings, visions, and reflections are all examples of thoughts. Reconnect carefully to the divine word whenever ideas arise. The word is not a mantra to be chanted every time an idea comes to mind. Rather, the word serves as a reminder of your desire to accept God's presence inside you.
Finally, after the prayer session, sit in silence for several minutes with the closed eyes. Before opening our eyes and leaving our seat, we say a short prayer. Make sure you go to a specialist to learn the right Prayer methods.

Note

No matter which Religious path you follow in your life, it is always good to be still and feel god’s presence inside you. And centering prayer can help you to do that.
