While Latinx and Hispanic individuals are the most entrepreneurial in countries like the United States (see the Kauffman Foundation's Indicators of Entrepreneurship and Stanford's State of Latino Entrepreneurship), this has not translated into the greatest access to finance for entrepreneurs in the country. In fact, Latinas have earned only 0.4 percent of all venture capital investments and less than two percent of venture capital-backed companies are Latinx.

Other than professional venture capitalists who invest other people's money in business ventures and generally focus on companies that have already reached certain operational milestones, angel investors invest their own time and money in start-up companies and those that are at an early stage of development, to help them successfully enter the US market.
