Laut älterer Berichte soll das iPhone 6c die Hardware eines iPhone 5s in neuem Kunstoffgehäuse bieten. Das Gerät würde damit also unter anderem mit einem 4 Zoll großen HD-Display, dem Apple A7 Prozessor, 1 Gigabyte RAM und einer 8-Megapixel-Kamera sowie Touch ID ausgestattet sein. Was dran ist an all diesen Spekulationen um das iPhone 6c werden wir aller Voraussicht nach schon sehr bald erfahren. Branchenkenner erwarten von Apple die Vorstellung der neuen iPhone-Generation am 9. September 2015.Es hat nicht lange gedauert bis ein Hersteller auf die Vorstellung erster Intel Xeon Prozessoren für Notebooks reagiert. Lenovo kündigte heute mit dem 15,6 Zoll großen Lenovo ThinkPad P50 und dem 17,3 Zöller ThinkPad P70 gleich zwei mobile Workstations an, die mit einem Prozessor der neuen Reihe Xeon E3-1500M v5 aufwarten werden. Sie sollen ab Ende 2015 auch auf dem deutschen Markt erhältlich sein.

Intel hatte die Existenz der Xeon-Familie E3-1500M v5 erst vor kurzem bestätigt. Die CPUs basieren auf der brandneuen Skylake-Mikroarchitektur und unterstützen ECC-Speicher, Thunderbolt 3 sowie die vPro-Technologie, genauere technische Details sind bislang aber noch nicht bekannt. Lenovo gibt nun ergänzend preis, dass sowohl das ThinkPad P50 als auch das ThinkPad P70 mit bis zu zu 64 Gigabyte DDR4-ECC-RAM bestückt werden kann. Der Arbeitsspeicher wird in vier SODIMM-Slots Platz finden. Davon abgesehen werden die beiden mobilen Workstations mit einer nicht näher spezifizierten Nvidia Quadro GPU und einem Full-HD-IPS-Display aufwarten. Gegen Aufpreis sollen sich beide Modelle auf Kundenwunsch zudem auch mit Multitouch-Funktionalität und einem UHD-Panel (3.840 × 2.160 Pixel) bestellen lassen.

Durch den kostenlosen Vertrieb von Windows 10 IoT Core erhofft sich Microsoft natürlich, reges Entwicklerinteresse für das neue Betriebssystem auch im IoT-Marktsegment zu generieren. Genau wie die beiden Editionen für PCs, Windows 10 Home und Pro, die nun seit knapp zwei Wochen erhältlich sind, wurde auch Windows 10 IoT Core vor der Veröffentlichung einem ausgiebigen Beta-Test unterzogen. In der fertigen Fassung wurden laut Microsoft noch einmal Fehler der letzten Beta-Version behoben und einige neue Features implementiert. Unter anderem kann das Raspberry Pie 2 mit Windows jetzt ausgewählte WLAN- und Bluetooth-Adapter erkennen, Sound ausgeben und soll beim Zugriff auf die GPIO-Ports bis zu zehnmal schneller sein.
