Vampire Elizabeth was looking for a distraction when she took a job on the isolated estate of scientist Dr. Owen Bennett.

The Crimson Wing parrot is a great feathered friend to have; however, they do require a lot of space. It is their space requirement that makes a lot of people shy away from buying one. The crimson parrot needs to have enough space to stretch its wings and fly around a little. The best place to keep them is in an aviary. Most people do not have that sort of space, so they avoid buying this species of parrot.

Crimson parrots are calm parrots with pleasant personalities. They are able to learn to speak, but they are not as good as the African Grey at speaking. Crimson wing parrots also squawk very little. These are very social parrots and if you keep a couple together in a single cage you will notice them quietly chatting with each other. Usually, you should only keep same sex crimson parrots in a single cage because the males can become aggressive towards the females. If you do want to keep a male and female together for potential breeding purposes, then it will be a good idea to have a separate area where you can keep the female when the male gets into a foul mood.

These parrots get their name from the crimson colored patch on their wing. Their wing is a vivid green on the top side, with a bright crimson patch, and gray on the underside. The males of the species have jet-black shoulders and upper back with a spectacular deep blue color on their lower back.

In the wild, the crimson parrots hangs upside down while eating; this is pretty unique. Unfortunately, this quality is not often found in crimson wing parrots that are bred in captivity.
