Plastic products and packaging are highly used from years. The demand is increasing with the passing days. Though people look for the alternatives but some of the plastic products don’t have efficient or budget friendly alternative. So, it is clear that plastic part manufacturing is high in demand. Each plastic component requires specific manufacturing technique and it vary from one product to another. Here we are going to discuss about two popular plastic parts manufacturing process- injection molding and blow molding.

Injection molding

Injection molding is the process used to manufacture solid components. Large volume of plastic products can be manufactured by this process varying in different sizes. Many other manufacturing processes comes under injection molding, they are as follows-

Overmolding- This process covers injection molding for substance like metal to achieve higher performance or durability.

Insert molding- It covers the injection molding process that requires making single finished product by combining two or more component.

Thermoplastic injection molding- It is an injection molding process that requires thermoplastic polymer as a raw material. This material can be remitted into liquid after solidification.

Cold runner molds- This method make use of spruce to fill the runners that inject resin into mold cavity. It minimizes waste by recycling and used for wide variety of polymers.

Hot runner molds- In this technique of injection molding use a gate to fill the mold cavity instead of runners. Potential waste is reduced in this method also due to recycling and regrinding.

Blow molding

Like injection molding, blow molding is also a core plastic component manufacturing process which is used to make plastic parts with hollow area. For example- bottle, containers, hollow toys, and caps of bottle like sanitizer bottle cap.

There are three types of injection molding processes-

Injection blow molding- This process involve injection, blowing, and ejection. Large quality of hollow products can be manufactured using this process. The main application includes bottles and containers of all sizes. It is ideal process for making both narrow and wide opening containers.

Extrusion blow molding- This molding process is less expensive than injection blow molding manufacturing process and quicker too. It saves much on cost tooling also but at the same time produces high amount of scrap material.

Injection stretch blow molding- This process is combination of the injection molding and blow molding. It includes mainly four steps- injection, stretching, blowing, and discharge. This method is generally used to manufacture high quality bottles with great clarity.

Choose the best molding process and the right service provider

It is up to you that which molding process you would choose to manufacture the plastic product. Better to consult with the experts so that they can advice you the most efficient and budget-friendly process depending on the particular plastic component. Make sure to partner with a trusted molding making service provider that can offer you high quality services.
