The study by Wakefield Research also reveals that consumers are projected to spend around nine hours every week outdoors in the coming year, a significant increase from seven hours per week in 2022.

A significant portion—or around 36 percent—of individuals will prioritize upgrading their outdoor lighting in 2023. Additionally, about 27 percent expressed their intention to enhance their outdoor spaces with shade options such as awnings, pergolas, and umbrellas, as well as decorative items like cushions, pillows, and rugs. Following closely is the desire to incorporate fireplace or firepit features, improve flooring, invest in comfortable seating and sofas, introduce water features, and create outdoor kitchens and bars.
