Safety: remember to consist of organic substances that are subjected to gentle care to keep their beauty intact. Thus, you can do the following to ensure that the pearls remain as good as new:

Cleaning: wipe them regularly with a soft cloth dampened in lukewarm water. Do not use detergent to clean the pearls. Always check it with your jeweller before using any cleaning agent for cleaning your cultured pearls. Do not bring your pearl in close contact with perfumes, hair sprays and harsh chemical substances. Wear your pearls only after you are done using these perfumes and sprays.

Maintenance: take your pearls off before swimming or taking a shower. Keep them wrapped inside tissue paper, or place them in a satin pouch or a velvet box. Keep restringing your pearls regularly to prevent the silk thread from weakening.

Storage: Store your pearls away from diamonds or precious stones jewellery to prevent them from any kind of scratches since the surfaces of the pearls are softer than stones.

Wear them: wear your pearls regularly to maintain their longevity.

Cultured pearls

Just like natural pearls, cultured pearls grow within pearl oysters in clean and natural surroundings. The growth of a cultured pearl is initiated by the man through implanting a piece of mantle tissue together with a round shell bead. The oyster enwraps the implant with layers of nacre and produces a cultured pearl.

South Sea Pearls

In the 20th Century, the pearl cultivation technique was introduced outside of Japan, in Australia, Myanmar, Indonesia and the Philippines. Pearls found in the ocean of these countries in the big pearl oyster named Pinctada Maxima are called White and Golden South Sea Pearls.
