One welcome improvement to the new Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) (subclass 482) visa program is the processing time, which has improved significantly.

Applications for the Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) (subclass 482) visa program are being processed much quicker than the previous Temporary Work (Skilled) (subclass 457) visa applications were. As of August 2018, 75% of the applications lodged were processed within:
• 57 days for the short-term stream,
• 55 days for the medium term stream and
• 28 days for the labor market agreements.

Applications are processed based on priority, with applications from accredited sponsors given the highest priority, followed by regional applications and then labor market agreement applications. However, the Department of Home Affairs does intend on reviewing the priority processing arrangements in the coming months.
