JUST ONE LOOK When they were sophomores at Nebraska-Lincoln, a sorority sister spotted Mitch’s fraternity picture and told Sara that she should ask him to an upcoming formal. She texted him that night. “The rest, as they say, is history,’’ Sara says.

WINTER WONDERLAND He proposed on Christmas Eve morning 2015 in his parents’ backyard. Seven inches of snow foiled his original plan to pop the question at Gene Leahy Mall in downtown Omaha.

GOLDEN MOMENT Sara envisioned a wedding reception shimmering in candlelight. She achieved it against a backdrop of wine and gold in the florals and decor. “I was particularly interested in unique elements for my wedding florals – which were spectacular,’’ she says. She especially loved the tokens in her bouquet that contained wedding photos of her parents and grandparents. “They all enjoyed longevity in their marriages,’’ she says. Her wedding day marked her parents' 28th year of marriage.

IT’S THE ONE Sara wore an Emily Hart gown, the first dress she tried on. It was modified with long, lace illusion sleeves. Her veil was made from tulle from her mother-in-law’s wedding veil.

FAMILY AFFAIR Mitch’s mom, a stylist with J.Hilburn, coordinated the men’s attire. Sara’s mom planned and designed the day. Sara’s second cousin, the Rev. James Gilg, performed the ceremony. An aunt provided custom-made teardrop earrings.

SWEET MOMENT Mitch got emotional when he saw Sara walk down the aisle. “The photographer captured the moment beautifully,’’ Sara says.

CARDBOARD CAKE They didn’t realize their wedding cake was sitting on a cardboard platter. “We exerted a great amount of strength trying to cut through it,’’ Sara laughs. “We finally dislodged a big enough piece to share — with no cardboard!’’

INSTANT MEMORY They loved their Polaroid photo book. “It’s a great keepsake and much better than a guest book with no pictures.’’

ROAST BEEF, ANYONE? Sara’s aunt and uncle own an Arby’s restaurant, so they had the fast food for a late-night snack. Guests loved it.

FAVORITE PRESENT A cryo spa from a family friend. “It isn’t something we would ever spend our money on, but we love it.’’

BEST FRIENDS Sara thinks Mitch is hilarious, and he’s coming to grips with her addiction to clothes. They’re adjusting to making decisions together after a honeymoon in Aruba. “From what house to buy to what to eat for dinner,’’ Sara says. “We communicate pretty well.’’
