Mooney, Acero marry in Charlotte

Ellen Elizabeth Mooney and Alexander Sheen Acero were married at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, at the Foundation for the Carolinas in uptown Charlotte.

Michael Vitale of Charleston officiated. Following the ceremony, a cocktail hour and reception were also held at the Foundation for the Carolinas.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mooney of Tega Cay, where the bride grew up. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Sheen of Long Island, N.Y.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. Kristine Kostelac of York was Maid of Honor. Honorary attendants were Cristina Yannucci and Serena Skala, both of New York City. Flower girls were Effi and Annabelle Stefas of New York City. Mr. William Sheen served as his son’s Best Man. Ceremony readers were Robyn Eagar of Tega Cay and Jocelyn Moore of Kingston, Ontario. Greeters were Mr. and Mrs. Craig Flansburg of Tega Cay and Mr. and Mrs. John Mooney of Winston-Salem, N.C.

On the eve of the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom and his parents at Capital Grille in Charlotte and a welcoming cocktail party for out of town guests was hosted by college friends of the bride’s parents at the Dunhill Hotel. Sunday brunch was hosted by friends of the bride’s parents of Tega Cay, also at the Dunhill Hotel.

The bride is a graduate of Fort Mill High School. She graduated from Wake Forest University and Brooklyn Law School and is now a partner with the law firm of Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard and Smith LLP in New York City. The groom graduated from Tufts University School of Engineering and Fordham Graduate School of Business. He is an engineer and project manager with The Sextant Group.

The couple honeymooned in Brazil and presently reside in the New York City area.
