The UK Government has announced that it needs to do more to improve NHS dental access for patients in the New Year. More needs to be done to ensure that everyone in the country can access a dentist when needed. This announcement came after the Health and Social Care Committee report that called ministers to end the access crisis in the country, helping to reduce distress and pain in patients.

The goal is to ensure that anyone needing a NHS dentist can get the access they need. This includes securing access within a reasonable time frame and within easy travelling distance. This will involve the government and NHS England rolling out a patient information campaign, improving awareness on how the dental sector will work. This will ensure that patients are well informed regarding what they are entitled to.

At the same time, all NHS dental practices should abide by the NICE recall guidelines for up to two years for adult patients, as many may need regular recalls. In addition to this, patients should not automatically be removed from the dental registers without a good and valid reason.
