This may be due to a bad experience in the past you may have had at the dentist office. Let's face it the sound of a drill can be a terrifying experience to say the least.

Here are some simple tips to help you eliminate your fears about going to the dentist:

1.) You should realize that you are there simply to keep your teeth and gums healthy. Ignoring this can lead to health problems and big dental bills in the future. Give yourself a break and try to relax.

2.) Realize that your dentist wants you to have a pleasant experience. Many dentists play music to keep patients at ease and in a relaxed state.

3.) Don't hold your breath! This can increase your heartbeat and make you rigid. Take deep relaxing breaths through your nose.

4.) Don't clench your jaw! Many people clench their jaws when faced with something that is stressful or threatening. Allow your jaw to remain relaxed and slack.

5.) Think of something that makes you joyful. Maybe you can envision a vacation you had in the past or one of your favorite destinations such as a calm relaxing beach.

Although most people have been going to the dentist since they were children, many people are still gripped with fear when they enter a dentist office. If you can eliminate the fear and worries that you may experience when visiting a dentist, you will find that its really not so bad. Whatever you decide to do make sure that you always maintenance regular check ups and brush and floss after every meal.

Although this is common knowledge,many people still get distracted from brushing and flossing every day. It can be hard when working and doing chores to remember to take care of your teeth. That is why getting regular with good habits like brushing and flossing will save you time and money on dental care. Preventive measures always pay off in the long run and this is true when it comes to having healthy teeth and gums.
