[Queensland, 22 July 2016] – Brisbane Powerhouse presents a hilarious, shameless take on the movie Titanic, James Cameron’s 1997 maritime romance classic. Brisbane Powerhouse, Queensland’s home for contemporary arts and culture, showcases various events that attract thousands of visitors a year.

A Silly Ode to an Otherwise Serious Classic

Titanic the Movie the Play, after its sell-out debut season at the annual Brisbane Comedy Festival, is returning. See the late 90s’ biggest silver screen hit from the 29th of September through the 22nd of October at Brisbane Powerhouse’s amphitheatre. The show runs from Thursday to Saturday, starting at 7:15 pm and running for a full 60 minutes.

The full ticket price is at $29; concession tickets start at $26. An additional fee applies to each booking: there’s an extra $3 for booking single tickets and $6 for multiple tickets. The shameless, hilarious homage to the 1997 James Cameron classic graces Brisbane Powerhouse’s stage to show the movie in a never-before-seen light — albeit one that takes itself less seriously.

Iceberg Right Ahead!

The play features the elements of the movie: the aristocratic Rose and common-born Jack discover love and a lack of lifeboats on a supposedly unsinkable ship. An iceberg looks to destroy a lot of people’s dreams.

Here’s what the critics have to say:

‘Titanic The Movie: The Play is a spectacular disaster and an absolute scream of a show that will have tears rolling down your face as the ship starts to sink.’ – Scenestr

‘If you loved Titanic, you’ll love this show. If you hated Titanic, you’ll love this show. If you’ve never seen Titanic, you’ll love this show. If there’s even the tiniest scrap of your soul that wants to enjoy itself, you’ll love this show.’ – Creative Drinks

‘For a guaranteed night to remember of non-stop face-aching laughter, do not miss the boat in securing a place on board this most inventive voyage.’ – Blue Curtains Brisbane
