After all, don't magazines and the media teach us that only the bold and beautiful qualify to grace the cover of the most popular magazines? As teenagers, we're very impressionable and look to the most popular in our society as role models. So, when we have acne on the most visible part of our body, this being the face, then this picture is totally contrary to all those role models we see with beautiful glowing skin, and our friends don't want to be seen with us etc.

Unbeknown to a lot of folk with acne, the best treatment is probably the one right under your nose! Way back whence when I had issues with acne, the only solution available was to visit a dermatologist, go through a series of skin peels or laser, and hope for the best. The treatment was very general and did not consider skin type, tone, texture etc, and the results were always mixed.

In today's society, however, you have millions of choices to pick from, you could go the surgery route, pick an over the counter product or do chemical peels etc. There is no doubt surgery or laser would be the best choice to go for but, the downside to this is the cost. Given the state of the economy right now, I'd say not many people have the funds needed to go for surgery or laser, this type of treatment is usually reserved for the stars we all so want to emulate.

Also, laser treatments come with their own risks. Laser procedures have been known to discolor skin and scar, plastic surgeries have been known to disfigure one's face, and injections have been known to create unnatural and scary looking results. Given this bleak picture, what is one to do, if they desire the same glowing silky smooth airbrushed skin that most models gracing the cover of magazines seem to have? What's more, most skin care products now are tailor made to specific skin types and tone.
