Lilly and the Gull, a series of children’s short stories about two characters traveling the world and encountering new lands and terrain, this week officially launched a Kickstarter campaign to garner support and financial backing for developing a web portal and interactive activity sheets to accompany the story. Lilly, a hairy hound and Tomsie, her feathery seagull friend, observe the environment and environmental issues prevalent in regions around the world. The stories give positive messages for change to young children ages three to seven.

“Each story has a positive subtle environmental education message that are aimed at and suitable for children,” said Vicki O’Donnell. “Stories will be globally-based, and completely user-friendly for children of all ages. Lilly and the Gull explores the importance of preserving ecosystems, protecting the environment, and mitigating climate change.”

Children can listen to Lilly and the Gull through a recording, or read out loud. Kickstarter support is being sought for Phase 1 of the release of the children’s series. With backing, a web portal dissemination will be developed as well as downloadable activity sheets per story that will be printable by any standard printer. The activity sheets will reinforce the story themes while presenting a physical opportunity for children to engage with the tales.

“Interaction outside of Lilly and the Gull will help solidify the brand so future expansion and stories can be pursued,” said O’Donnell. “Hopefully in the future, we can initiate Phase 2 and use a subscription-based platform for the adventurous children’s tale. By investing in our Kickstarter campaign, Lilly and the Gull will be researched and developed to maximize the very best templates to provide the associated downloadable material.”

Funding via Kickstarter, would also enable subscription-based software to be integrated into the platform at Phase 1, becoming functional in Phase 2.

Lilly and the Gull’s Kickstarter officially launched March 30, 2016 and is open until April 30, 2016.
