Here is some advice for a computer new hand. Before we install anti-virus software, we'd better go to a trustworthy website for the download. Usually, we can check the version of an installed program in the Add or Remove Programs by highlighting it and click "click here for support information" in the currently installed program list. But when I downloaded McAfee Security Center from an unknown website I couldn't find the information about the version and publisher of this software. Then I decided to uninstall it and download a legal version.
I tried to uninstall this McAfee through the Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel. But there were some Popup windows saying it was installed improperly. And certainly it didn't work.
Then I searched the method on the internet for this problem. I found that I need to enter safe mode first to totally close the program by pressing F8 when starting the computer. Then force uninstalls McAfee with Quusoft Uninstaller. Here are the instructions:
- First, Run Special Uninstaller
- Second, Click "Force uninstall" on the main interface
- Third, Click "ok" to skip pop-up "It is recommended that you should firstly try the "uninstall" function. Are you sure to forcibly utilize this function?"
- Fourth, choose the program path by click the button on the right side of the second blank
- Fifth, click the program folder and Click "next" to start the removal
- Sixth, Follow the on-screen steps to finish the uninstall process
This solution just made me feel rescued. Although it's not a problem to search uninstall help from internet, we'd better choose the right install package resource next time.
