Are you curious about yoga? Many people are but don't have the faintest idea where to start exploring that curiosity.

For those of us who consider themselves an absolute beginner when it comes to yoga, signing up for a yoga class might fill us with dread.
The last thing we want is to look like a beginner surrounded by intensely lean, beautiful people throwing complicated yoga shapes. If you want to start your journey to being someone who can drop those advanced yoga poses, maybe you should try beginner yoga at home.
Let’s be very clear here, we are in no way shaming anyone who wants to take up yoga. If you can take or want the heat of learning a new skill in person, in a classroom setting, by all means have at it. We are only speaking from personal experience here. A yoga class often has people who are on many different levels, but if you have no experience, you might feel lost. Yoga for beginners is no different than any other skill set. Learning some basics on your own could set you up for greater success further down the line.
In the last two years we have also gotten more used to doing things at home. Maybe it was because of a government mandated quarantine or maybe your job has moved permanently to your spare room, more than likely you have explored new things on your own. Whatever the reason for our new isolation, it has been vitally important to stay physically active. Beginner yoga at home has become even more popular during this pandemic era.
The mistake so many of us make is to undertake a new fitness endeavor without guidance. It’s an easy mistake to make with so many fitness videos available on the internet. Some of us might want to save money by searching “yoga for beginners” in a search engine and going off on our own. By cutting this corner, we are also doing ourselves a disservice. Trying to teach ourselves yoga poses without proper guidance isn’t just counterproductive, it’s dangerous.
There has been a lot of talk about fitness training at home. People have been signing up for virtual spin classes and remote personal training sessions by the millions. Yoga has seen a similar shift online. This new mandated privacy should be a silver lining to those of us who might be hesitant to take up yoga in public. It has never been a better time to explore yoga for beginners. Right now, there are experienced yoga professionals offering instruction via online video chat. There are also several startups that have sprung up offering great classes at affordable prices.
Beginner yoga at home shouldn’t be a mystery and it should be fun. The most important thing to remember is that if you are going to learn yoga, do it right. Learning from a certified professional at home will get you ready to take on classes when you feel ready. Yoga is useful for so many reasons. Not only can you see the physical benefits, but famously yoga is also beneficial for your mind.
