The smartphones are everywhere. You see people chattering with family members and friends in the malls and on transit systems. You see people of all ages playing"Angry Birds","Cut the Rope" or some other entertaining app. Folks can cruise through websites using a tap and then swipe on smartphones, all while away from their computer. For many years, advertisers capitalized on the home (or office based) computers to present real time and circumstance certain ads to net surfers (via their browsers). Money could be made for"pay per click" or similar ad models. This method works, however, the problem for advertisers is that people aren't using their desktop PCs more. They're using their smartphones.

Should you have a smartphone and have downloaded any programs, you may have come across a couple of which utilize in-app branding and possibly in-app advertising. A lot of people are eager to put up with the occasional ad from an advertiser in exchange for some cool free program or game. Here is the very first of the five methods I'd like to present for ridding your Mobile apps.

If you're a publisher of programs - let's say you're the manager to get a busy nightclub and also have a program for promoting your team - then you are more inclined to have a free program than a paid app. You may still earn money with a free program!

For starters, here are the five methods for ridding your Mobile App:

Use AdMob, Millennial Media and others to offer in-app advertisements
Sell ad space on your program for vendors and merchants
Link from your app to Affiliate websites and their goods
Use Push Notifications
Charge to your own program or for in-app purchases
We're big fans of these free apps. I know for sure I have plenty of free apps on my cellular devices. I have a tendency to recommend totally free programs to friends too because I know if they do not enjoy the programs I urge, they can always delete them. So, all but one of the methods I describe here would use to free apps mostly.

In case you've got your own program being printed (or previously published, as you can always add more to it in an upgrade ), consider using AdMob or a different ad aggregating service. Since AdMob a part of the Google family of companies, a lot of folks may already have a connection together without even knowing it. Nonetheless, select one of them and use their SDK tools (it is a job to your developer) and receive your Publisher credentials added appropriately to the program. Before you know it, a mini billboard will appear on the screen to your app and you will be on your way to earning additional money. This method is extremely helpful for those of you who have created a free app that's downloaded frequently. It's as straightforward as: The more users, the more exposure to the advertisement, and the more potential revenue for you.

If your app is a community based program or a program that's associated with certain products or services, look at getting a monthly fee from merchants or vendors to add their information in your app. This process works really well if you have a lot of downloads for your program. If the retailers can observe your program is widely used, it is almost a no-brainer. They're likely to ask you if you can help them!

Many operators of stores and other online websites already have connections with affiliate advertising sites such as Commission Junction and Linkshare. All these work pretty much the same. If you use their resources, you can take their links (for commission) and embed them into your app. As individuals use your app, they'll see these hyperlinks and (ideally ) will tap/click on them. If they purchase from the connected site, you get commissions.

Personally, I like the iOS method for Push Notifications. These keep me in touch with some of the updates in games and other programs I use. But, if you're a shrewd marketer, then you can use these within your apps to add value and earn more revenue. This isn't really monetizing internally (with the program ), however the earnings opportunity remains. A push notification allows you to share along with your'subscribers' info about your program or a deal you may have. This drives them to act. A Push Notification may be an immediate call to action for your user community. "Act now and download three free widgets with the purchase of only one!" Get the idea?

Pretty much everybody you could request would tell you that a distributed free program is better than charging a minimum fee ($0.99) for each download. As time passes, you'll find that free programs are downloaded more often and will be shared freely with others. Getting other people to market to you (by discussing ) is highly desirable and beneficial. If, however, you do decide to sell your program to get a commission, then be sure it is fee-worthy and provides an ongoing function to your own audience. Individuals will not be happy paying for a program that does not provide appropriate functionality. Another means to charge for an app would be to spread the program for free, but use in-app purchasing to pay for the expenses of a add-on feature or downloaded merchandise inside the app. I have seen this variety from downloadable articles (PDFs or sound files) to tools or items for matches or similar programs. Be sure your pricing model isn't hard to comprehend.

We are in a wonderful new frontier with cellular programs and marketing is going to have to adapt. Use these tips to plan your own app before it is distributed for best results.
