Synthetic mesh products are normally manufactured by medical product companies. These synthetic mesh products are used in a variety of procedures such as pelvic organ prolapse and stress urinary incontinency. The synthetic mesh products are usually utilized in vaginal surgeries and bladder surgeries. Unfortunately, there are normally a large number of complications that arise during this surgery leading to vaginal mesh complications and bladder sling complications, in the case of vagina surgery or bladder surgery.

There has been vast research based on in depth investigation, scientific literature and reports from patients and medical practitioners and providers. This research has found out that use of transvaginal mesh in pelvic organ prolapse surgery or the use of synthetic mesh in stress urinary incontinency surgery is not superior to traditional methods. Such methods include traditional mesh repairs. This conclusion was reached on the basis of the proportion of complications and failure that arises due to these surgeries.

Therefore, when considering steps to take so as to reduce cases of vaginal mesh failure, one has to consider use of alternative treatment methods. These include traditional mesh surgeries which are not prone to a lot of post surgery complications and have a relatively good success rate.

To effect this women patients have to be carefully advised before deciding on the treatment option they prefer. This involves women patients being empowered with information on alternative forms of treatment. Patients who opt for pelvic organ repair prolapse using mesh are more prone to post surgery complications as compared to those who elect traditional surgery that does not use mesh. Patients should be able to look into the pros and cons of the use of transvaginal mesh in pelvic surgery and also the pros and cons of traditional treatment methods that do not use mesh. Therefore they can be able to decide if to opt for alternative treatments as opposed to surgery that could lead to vaginal mesh complications.

Again costs are reduced since using transvaginal mesh in surgical repair when attempting to treat vaginal apical prolapse. This is because traditional surgery procedures do not have a high risk of vaginal film complications. This reduces costs which will be incurred to perform extra surgeries to repair the complications that have arisen from vaginal mesh complications. These extra surgeries are performed by removing the mesh although there have been reports of persistent complications even after the mesh has been removed. Therefore, reduced costs should be seen as one of the incentives to choose alternative forms of treatment as opposed to transvaginal mesh surgery repair.

Another alternative to pelvic organ prolapse surgical repair using transvaginal mesh is the abdominal pelvic organ prolapse repair using mesh. This is because abdominal pelvic organ prolapse has been proven to have lower chances of post surgery complications as compared to those that use transvaginal mesh in the repair. Therefore, it is important to look into alternative forms of treatment so as to reduce vaginal mesh complications. These alternatives treatment should be able to provide patient with better chances of recovery and reduced costs of treatment.
