Stairlift Market Forecasts Growing Demand

UK’s Associated Stairlifts shares insights into the expected growth curve

One of the fastest-growing industries in the UK is that of stairlifts. There are various contributing factors to the expected growth. These factors include advanced technology making these solutions more reliable and trustworthy than a decade ago. The massive strides which the industry took in research and development of these systems also contributed to making these systems more cost-effective and it is becoming far more affordable to families across Britain to install these systems when needed. Yet, according to one of the most reputable stairlift installers in the UK, Associated Stairlifts, the reason for this growth can mainly be contributed to an increase in the local aged population.

“Recent statistics reveal an expected increase in the number of people aged older than 60 years, will increase from 901 million globally in 2015 to 1.4 billion in 2030. It means an increase of 56%. People falling in the specific age bracket are most likely to suffer from medical concerns such as Vitamin D deficiency, brain injuries, hip and knee fractures and injuries and an overall weakness in the lower body. These conditions require the aid of a stairlift and thus we expect to not only see a major increase in the number of domestic stairlift installations, but also a great demand in shopping centres and other public places,” says Andrews Lewis, the director of Associated Stairlifts.

Global statistics regarding the industry divide their data into five different geographical regions. These regions are the Middle East and Africa, North America, Asia Pacific, Europe and Latin America. Of these five regions, Europe is one of the areas holding the largest chunk of the business and it is also here where the industry expects to see the steepest growth curve.

It is these kinds of forecasts which has driven another impacting shift in the industry, namely the huge investment which the UK’s NorthEdge Capital LLP recently made into Platinum Stairlifts, one of the top five manufacturers in the industry. Through this investment, the manufacturer was able to improve its current facility and speed up the production process to ensure that there will be a sufficient supply for the growing demand.

“It is a very exciting time to be in the stairlift business. There has never been an age when there has been so many outstanding advances and developments in the industry as what we have seen over the recent years. Every major manufacturer is currently pulling out all the stops to make the best of the expected increase in demand, adding several outstanding features while their products are far more competitively priced, benefiting the end-user,” Lewis shares his excitement about the future.
