All of California Missions

The largest of all the 21 California missions, it is home to a community of Franciscan Friars and is open daily to the public in the Franciscan tradition of heritage and hospitality.
 
Introduction
In 1776, the US Constitution declared the East Coast free from the British. The Spaniards 3000 miles away, sought to claim the land by building missions from 1969 to 1983.

The founding of the Alta California missions furnished an epic in the history.
Types of California missions according to the date and order
The lists of 21 missions are:
1. Basilica San Diego de Alcala: also called Mission San Diego founded in June 16, 1769 by Junipero Serra; the first Father President
2. San Carlos Borromeo De Carmelo: Fr. Junipero Serra founds this mission in June 3, 1770. The blessed Serra is buried at this mission.
3. San Antanio de Padau: Founded by Fr. Junipero Serra in July 14, 1771
4. San Luis Obispo de Tolosa: is also called Mission San Luis Obispo in September 1, 1772. The founding father president of this mission is Fr. José Cavalier.
5. San Francisco de Asis: it is named for Saint Francis of Assisi, founder of the Franciscan Order and also called Mission Dolores in October 9, 1776
6. San Juan Capistrano: this seventh mission is founded in November 1, 1776 by Frs. Pablo Mugártegui and Gregorio Amurrío
7. Santa Clara de Asis: it is founded by Frs. José Murguía and Tomás de la Peña Saravia in January 12, 1777
8. San Buenaventura: it is founded in March 31, 1782 by father President Junipero Serra.
9. Santa Bárbara: founded by Fr. Fermín Francisco de Lasuėn in December 4, 1786. It is named for Saint Barbara, a legendary martyred church figure of the 3rd century.
10. La Purísima Concepción: is the Eleventh of the California Missions founded in December 8, 1787 by Fr. Fermín Francisco de Lasuėn
11. Santa Cruz: this mission is founded in August 28, 1791 by Fr. Fermiin Francisco de Lasuén
12. Nuestra Señora de la Soledad: is founded in October 9, 1791 by Fr. Fermin Francisco de Lasuen
13. San José: is the fourteenth of the California missions also called The Mission of the Most Glorious Patriarch Saint Joseph is founded by Fr. Fermiin Francisco de Lasuén in June 11, 1797.
14. San Juan Bautista: also called La Misión del Glorioso Precursor de Jesu Cristo is founded in June 24, 1797 by Fr. Fermín Francisco de Lasuėn. It is name for St. John the Baptist.
15. San Miguel Arcángel: is also called Mission San Miguel by Fr. Fermín Francisco de Lasuén in July 25, 1797
16. San Fernando Rey de España: it is the Seventeenth of the California Missions founded in September 8, 1797 by Fr. Fermín Francisco de Lasuėn
17. San Luis Rey de Francía: is also called Mission San Luis Rey is founded by Fr. Frmin Franciso Lasuen in June 13, 1798
18. Santa Inés Virgen y Martír: this mission is founded in September 17, 1804 by Fr. Estévan Tápis
19. San Rafael Arcángel: this mission is founded by Fr. Vincente de Sarría in December 14, 1817
20. San Francisco Solano: the last of the California missions is founded in July 4, 1823.
Conclusion
These missions are fraction of those which were built by the Spaniards to claim North America. You can travel south of the border to Mexico learn and see many missions there.
