With physical data storage, any problems to the system could result in a huge disaster. This can damage the image of your company in addition to losing income while the problem is dealt with, due to downtime. Cloud disaster recovery, which is pretty new in comparison to physical storage recovery, is proving to be a necessity in an age where customers demand an on-going, round the clock service.

When you have your data stored in the cloud, there are always duplicates being made of your information. This means you always have a backup to go to, should the worst happen. Cloud disaster recovery, in most cases, will allow you to continue to use your data while any corrupted files are being deleted or corrected.

As all companies vary in their needs, an IT disaster recovery plan is an individual plan needed by each and every company. This means that the plan will be adapted to suit your specific needs by way of pre-selecting how often files are duplicated to ensure you don’t lose important data. Iffor example, you are taking in a lot of client information throughout the day it’s advisable to set duplication to occur more regularly, however, companies that are using the same system based in the cloud and adding little to no information regularly will not need to back up as often.

Think of your own PC or laptop and performing a system restoration. It allows you to restore information that you need from a restore point while getting rid of corrupt data that could be affecting your computer's performance. An IT disaster recovery plan works in the same way but on a much larger scale. With a disaster recovery plan, you will need to work out which of the applications/data are of the highest priority and decide how much downtime you would be able to afford before it hits a red line for your business. Anything you deem critical should be included in your disaster recovery plan, so that these are the details that are replicated more frequently. To speed up recovery you can omit anything that is not detrimental to the business’ day to day operation.

Operations that are managed by the cloud are a very popular option for businesses because it allows you to have a managed service provider that will give you maximum cloud benefits yet deferring the upkeep. For those working in customer relations, it’s more important to be able to have the continuous operation of their email and other contact services such as video chat on consistently.

Even if you still like to have some hardware on premise you can still benefit from cloud disaster recovery as you could have a hybrid service allowing you to store on premise yet have backups in the cloud should you need them. This could mean that a business that is subject to arson, water damage or another disaster will still be able to recover files they thought were forever lost with their physical storage in a matter of hours from another location.
