Supply Chain Director for Rio Olympics to address LatAm Supply Chain Forum

As business look forward to the FIFA worldcup and Rio2016 in Brazil, LatAm Supply Chain summit will highlight the importance of the a sound and comprehensive supply chain given the growth of the Latin American trade.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Press Release) Sep 19, 2013 -- Did you know that Brazil was one of the first regions to begin recovery from the economic crisis and report a GDP gain of 7.5% in 2010? Latin American market has shown great significance despite the global economic downturn. Despite inflation, Brazil went on to overtake the United Kingdom as the worlds seventh largest economy in terms of GDP the following year.

As businesses looks forward to the FIFA world cup in 2014 and the Rio2016 Olympics, the need for a sound and comprehensive supply chain will be crucial. Speaking about challenges of building a temporary yet sustainable supply chain at the upcoming LatAm Supply Chain & Logistics Strategy Summit is Fernando Cotrim , Supply Chain Director for the Rio 2016 Organising Committee. Cotrim will discuss about building a reliable supplier base and how to go about planning and managing for the kind of demand the Rio2016 presents. In an interview for the Rio2016, Cotrim states “Building a temporary supply chain for the Olympic and Paralympic Games is a great challenge and it must also be solid and sustainable for Brazil. Therefore, we must have a suppliers database that is prepared to deliver excellent Games”

The summit will also see Port of Santos President, Renato Barco present a case study on how the infrastructure can be developed and the opportunities the port presents to aid in growing international trade. Taking place between 21 to 22 November in Sao Paolo - Brazil, other leading industry experts will include Marcelo Trevisan (Nike), Francisco Espinosa Teja (Pfizer), Mauricio Valadares (GE O&G) presenting on optimal supply chain processes within retail, pharmaceuticals and energy sectors respectively. The summit also sees support from Universal Freight Organisation and Sindipesa - National Union of Transport and Movement of Heavy Loads Brazil.
