-- It’s hard to imagine a more special and beautiful place than the Lake District National Park located in Cumbria. It’s one of those places that anyone should visit at least once in their lifetime. The status that it enjoys is certainly not an overstatement, as it’s one of the most popular vacation destinations in the United Kingdom. It offers many attractions and it’s a place that we’ll want to revisit, especially after taking a professional Lake District walking tour.
The modern world we live in demands most of our attention, time and energy, as, at the end of the day, we are drained and can do nothing more except fall helplessly into bed. It’s hard to believe that so many people have trouble sleeping at night if we take only this into account. However, considering the fact that most people that have problems with their sleep are usually overstressed because of the long working hours, it would really be no surprise if this problem were to occur to more and more persons. What can’t be denied is the fact that with all the benefits it brings, technology also had a negative effect - that of getting people to be more disconnected from the world, from nature, and from themselves. These effects can be negated by disconnecting. One of the ways in which we can do this in Cumbria is by taking a Lake District walking tour. The guided walks in the Lake District will not only help us exercise our body, but will also enable us to learn more about the history of the place.
If we would like to learn more about the rich history of this National Park, then we should know that we can visit some of the places where the famous lake poets once dwelled. The main figures of the Lakes School that we’ll learn more about are William Woodsworth, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, and Robert Southey. Among the historic houses that we can visit are the Woodsworth House, which is the poet’s birthplace, as well as other places connected to him, like the Dalemain, the Dove Cottage, the Rydal Mount and the Muncaster Castle. It goes without saying that we’ll find many places that we can visit which are historically related to the lake poets, and we can include them in our guided walks in the Lake District. Naturally, we won’t be able to visit them all during a single Lake District walking tour.
Since there are so many places to visit, we will need a good guide if we really want to make our Lake District walking tour more enriching. We can easily find professional tour guides among the locals, and we’ll be surprised to learn some of the interesting legends that go around. Of course, one of the activities that we’ll enjoy the most during our guided walks in the Lake District will be the sightseeing. Overall, it’s safe to say that we’ll have a great time during any Lake District walking tour we take.
