It feels good when the cold weather gets warmer. When warm weather gets hot, it may not feel comfortable. You can always pursue the comfort of the air conditioner, but if it does not work, you will feel the heat. The good news is that you can do some simple things to help your air conditioner stay in better condition. Before the weather gets warm, you should perform regular air conditioning repairs. A professional will come out to check and repair your air conditioner. This keeps things in order and helps spot potential problems. So how to deal with the outside and inside parts for daily air conditioning cleaning?

Before you start, power off the device. Turn the condenser switch to the "off" position. In your circuit breaker box, turn off the circuit breaker. When your hand is near the fan blade, you don't want it to open.

1. Clean the outside:

Clean the condenser coil. If your condenser is on the roof, there may be nothing to clean. If you are on the ground, you are more likely to have debris. Remove the grille above the fan and use a vacuum cleaner to clean up any debris found inside. Use a garden hose to spray the heat sink from the inside to the outside. Be careful not to use high-pressure water cleaners. The fins are thin and easily damaged.

Check the heat sink. They are very thin and easy to bend. If you see damaged areas, such as flattened fins, use a butter knife or fin tool to gently straighten them. Be careful not to damage the pipes in the heat sink.

Rake any ground debris from the condenser and trim any branches or shrubs at least two feet away. Level the condenser. As the soil settles, it is not uncommon for the condenser pad to fall off the water level. Using gaskets and spirit level, you can bring the condenser back to a horizontal position.

2. Clean inside:

Clean the Evaporator coil. These should be behind the door above the blower motor. It may be sealed with foil tape. Open the lid and use a soft paint brush to wipe off the dust on the coil. Next, spray the coil with coil cleaner and let it drip into the drain pan. Then, wash the drain pan with soap and hot water. Ensure that the drain pipe is unobstructed. If so, you can skip the next step.

Clean the evaporator drain pipe. This is usually a 1-inch PVC pipe coming out of the evaporator housing. Follow it to where it flows out. For this, connect the wet/dry vacuum and seal it with tape or rag. Remove the vacuum filter to avoid damaging it, and turn on the vacuum for 2-3 minutes to clear any blockages.

Replace the filter. This should be done twice a year on the heating/cooling system; once at the beginning of the cooling season and once at the beginning of the warming season.

Turn the power back on and let it go through a complete cycle. If the weather is no longer as cool as before, it's time to call an air conditioning cleaning professional.
