Madden NFL 21's developers will start, on March 4, the last of three rounds of upgrades promised for the game's Franchise mode. Although very granular and technical in the areas they address and improve, the updates still answer long-running requirements from Franchise lifers who believed that the latest sport did little to improve the core manner.

Central to the changes on deck is a reworking of the match's player-trading logic, and the overall player valuation that behaviour rests on. The changes EA Tiburon's designers explained in a blog article on Wednesday are supposed to make transactions to get superstars"closer to what we've seen [in real life] based on changing perceptions of'realistic' transactions through the years."

This means fixing inconsistencies and problems where highly rated players have been strangely less valued by CPU teams. For instance, a talented player who was not a starter on his previous team, but would be a starter on the one being provided, was viewed as a backup-level worth by the old trade logic. It should work in reverse, too. Middling-rated players could occasionally find one-for-one trade value with stars simply because both were at the very top of their respective teams' depth graphs. The CPU will either expect more in the transaction, or simply refuse such offers.

In other circumstances, players whose archetype did not match the playbook scheme of their current team (a power running back, for example, in a system built for receiving backs) would be undervalued when put on the trading block, also. Both of these incongruities are solved with the patch, EA Tiburon explained.

The trade logic overhaul will even address resources whose commerce worth is somewhat unique to professional American football: draft picks. Madden's franchise mode has had the means of trading approaching draft picks since Madden NFL 13 at 2012. EA Tiburon says it's"completely realigned the base value of Draft picks to operate with fresh Player Value changes." Additionally,"teams will have more nuanced viewpoints of valuing players and draft picks in their own and competitions."

A note from developers expanded on this notion using an example: A star player might objectively be worth a first-round draft selection in a one-for-one trade. However, the fact he's an older star who could conceivably retire shortly lowers the return value to a second-round pick, since the team who gets the star won't have him for long.

The other major change is that a quality-of-life feature that Madden lifers have long requested: A listing of all award winners, Super Bowl participants, champions, and other data, over the lifespan of a Franchise playthrough. In Maddens up to now, players' career entire statistics were retained, but not broken out by individual year. And, unless somebody was writing it down at a three-ring binder, the outcomes of the alternative reality that consumers had created were missing as soon as they started a new season.
