LotRO is the MMO closest to FFXIV in terms of player-led activity. I used Landroval to create avatars and hosted Weatherstock. Nothing came near to the daily activities I've seen here.

I am a complete sprout and novice. I have seen Paw's Paws or a different name for the group of young girls playing instruments in a Tavern. I assumed they were NPCs (it's difficult for me to tell the difference between players and the npcs). It turns out that these were actual people working in an actual band! Damn. I thought I heard a tune that was familiar however, I didn't pay attention.

What are the things you think they should add? The ability to challenge people with cards from any part of the game(players I mean). Even if it's just the ability to win mgp at the gold saucer, it will still be fun to play cards and place bets on our own. I would love to walk down a dark street to hunt for card sharks for a game lol

It's not uncommon for me and my friends or FC mates to pop into discord at night to meet up in a major city, party occasionally, watch some comedians, explore some of the homes of the wards. You can also check out an event that's hosting an event, and something else instead of just doing content together. There's plenty to do, see, and experience out there and a significant portion of it is created by players it's something I am missing from old school WoW. It was no longer a game for me quite a while in the past, and I'll never forget the feeling of being dressed in SWP gear , and seeing players on my extremely sloppy server saying 'WHOA THAT Gear is SO awesome', and without knowing!

It's astonishing how in FFXIV I can hang out in Limsa or Ul'dah or even with my triple Triad parasol out and I'll surely get 5 whispers on where I bought it. Sometimes I'll ask other players to inquire about where they bought a particular glamorous piece because I'm such an absolute fan of all things glamour. Everything is just so wonderful.

Early Runescape has an amazing community where just traveling through Varrock or Falador You'd observe so many people doing different things (or going to world 2 to see these areas brimming with traders). A lot of people "wasted" time doing different minigames however, now everyone breaks every activity down to gold/hour or hours of xp.

I started WoW as gearscore was picking up, and also before LFG was announced (dps meters were already commonplace). I observed a shift in the community, where you'd avoid dangerous people to play dungeons and instead kick low dps and receiving a replacement in seconds. And it's gotten a bit worse in WoW where the "interview" process for joining the group changed from looking at their gear to scrutinizing the whole of their past experience (people generally require you to have a minimum of 4 years experience before they will allow you to get their entry-level job).
