I do not have Jagex directly stating skillcapes caused botting, only that RS2 was out for more than two years until Skillcapes came out and we did not have rampant botting. However in 6 months of Skillcapes being out F2P worlds were inoculated together with them and tens of thousands were banned every week for buying gold. Poster. Correlation does not equal causation. Bots increase based on ease of accessibility to computing, knowledge that Runescape is one that may be botted for gain, and number of players in general. Botting will increase as the playerbase or celebrity of Runescape increases, since there is more money. Skillcapes alone didn't cause this increase.

I really don't have a counterargument for your point especially. I just felt like saying that personally, while in theory that the argument that Runescape would be better without them may be right, I would be interested in that match. Max cape and skillcapes would be why I made my 1 and only OSRS accounts and they're the reason I continue to play Runescape. Just a few thoughts.
